Four Great Bourbon Cocktail Recipes

It would be difficult to find a more American hard spirit than bourbon. While the exact origin is unclear, bourbon is usually associated with the South although it is manufactured all over the country. Beginning in the 1800’s this type of whiskey began to be produced from Kentucky to Louisiana, and has become a favorite throughout the land.   • Bourbon and Ginger: Keep it super simple with this bourbon and ginger Mix 6 ounces of your favorite bourbon with 24 ounces of ginger ale.   • Bourbon Tea: For a refreshing bourbon tea, you will need tea bags, lemons, sugar and 750 ml of your favorite bourbon. Bring two cups of water to a boil. Add two family size tea bags and steep for ten minutes. Remove tea bags and chill. Add seven cups water, one cup of sugar and the bourbon. Garnish with lemon peel and serve over ice. You can also add the juice of two or three lemons to this cocktail as well as adjust the amount of sugar to your taste.
  • Old Fashioned: The old fashioned bourbon cocktail is a classic throwback to the Mad Med days. This favorite has stood the test of time. Mix two teaspoons of simple syrup, one teaspoon of water and two dashes of bitters in the bottom of a whiskey glass. Swirl the glass to mix. Add ice to the top. Add 1.5 ounces of your favorite bourbon. Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
  • Cranberry Bourbon Cocktail: A cranberry bourbon cocktail is a light, refreshing way to enjoy your bourbon. Add ½ cup each of bourbon and cranberry juice to a small pitcher.
