Alcoholic Ice Cream – It’s What’s For Dessert?

As hardworking adults, sometimes the days seem longer and harder than they should. Half the time, you look forward to the end of the day and wonder, “What’s going to be better… a glass of wine, or some dessert?” We’ve all been there, and sometimes we choose both because of a sheer lack of will power and inability to choose between two loves.

That’s why we were thrilled to see that some brilliant minds have combined two of the greatest products into one for a completely fantastic experience. Alcoholic ice cream is the newest craze amongst adults all over, and leaves them feeling satisfied in terms of that sweet tooth, and relaxed in terms of a nice little buzz. The greatest news of all? It’s available for purchase in various states, but in case you can’t get there, it’s also not really difficult to make.

Make Some Today – White Russian Ice Cream


  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 2/3 cup refrigerated vodka
  • 2/3 cup refrigerated Kahlua


First you’ll combine your milk, cream and sugar in a pot on medium heat. While the cream is heating, whisk your eggs together in a large bowl. Once the cream is hot (not boiling), slowly pour about a third of it into the bowl of whisked eggs, whisking the mixture while you pour. Now slowly add the eggs and the cream back into the medium pot, continuing to stir until thoroughly incorporated once again. You’ll know the cream is ready for the next step if you can draw a line across the spatula with your finger, and have the cream not drip down below the mark. Now, strain the cream into an iced, cold bowl, and set it in the refrigerator to chill.

While the custard chills for a few hours, you’ll prepare for spiking. In a small pot on medium heat, pour your cold water and gelatin, and heat until the mixture is thick. Now, strain the gelatin and water in a separate bowl and set aside. Next, pour both your vodka and the Kahlua in with your gelatin. Once your custard has chilled for a few hours, strain your alcohol gelatin mixture into the custard and whisk it all together. Insert in a freezer bowl or ice cream maker and set in your freezer for several hours. Enjoy!
